New photovoltaic panels have been fitted on the roof at Raw Materials’ studios. This will contribute to reducing both our overheads and carbon footprint.
The latest installment of our increasingly popular project ‘Midweek Mashup’ comes in form of B-B-B-Beatboxing!
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Beatboxing, it is simply the art of using your mouth to make sounds that emulate instruments; effectively creating beats and music using only your mouth.
We were joined by the extremely talented “Essence” who led the workshop, taking our participants on a journey through sound. We started with basic drum sounds (a great excuse to make funny noises without being seen as weird!) We then explored different methods of actually writing the sounds which in turn allowed us to start stringing our sounds together and ultimately led to us creating a group soundscape!
A massive thank you to Essence for such an exciting workshop and we look forward to seeing you all at the next Midweek Mashup Workshop this Wednesday 22nd October – Lyricism and Rap with Potent Whisper!
Three more young Raw Material artists have been working at Amy’s Yard, the Amy Winehouse Foundation studios in Camden. Coming through our Raw Sounds project, they were selected for the 14 week stint to further develop their skills as artists and producers. Their work is being showcased at a special event on 27 October.
